Adult volunteer opportunities – 19 years and older Volunteers must be 19 years of age (Under 19, please see the Teen section.) Volunteers must be willing to commit to a minimum of 6 months (or 75 hours) of volunteer service, provide a criminal record check and be willing to participate in the full application process. Placement is according to skills, program needs and availabilityAdult volunteer application process Application process Step 1 Step 2 Step 3Following a successful interview, we will contact references and a criminal record check will be requested. Step 4Upon completion of satisfactory references and a criminal record check, potential volunteers will be invited to attend a hospital orientation session. This is mandatory for all volunteers and will give you the knowledge you need for a safe and successful volunteer experience. Step 5Following the LMH orientation, you will be scheduled for training shifts specific to your volunteer role or service area. Once you have finished your training, you will be ready to begin your regular Volunteer shift at Langley Memorial Hospital! Application for adult volunteers This application form is for volunteers over 19 years of age only. See TEEN Volunteer Opportunities section for details on Volunteen applications. Teen volunteer opportunities – 16 to 18 years The VolunTEEN program is sponsored by the generous support of the Langley Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. VolunTEENs have an opportunity to volunteer in patient units providing library services and other tasks related to patient care, and at the Information Desk. Teens from 15 – 18 years of age, attending school in Langley or recently graduated are invited to apply. Preference is given to applicants with prior volunteer or work experience and the intent to pursue a career in health care. VolunTEENS commit to attending 2 hours per day, once per week, for the entire program. The VolunTEEN program is offered at LMH in two separate sessions. Regular VolunTEEN Program - September to May Deadline for applications if 4 pm the last Friday in August. Summer VolunTEEN Program - June to August Deadline for applications if 4 pm the last Friday in May. Due to the popularity of the program, applications must be completed in full, along with references, and submitted by the due date; no exceptions.
