Nearly one in four Canadians either has diabetes or prediabetes. More than 20 people are diagnosed with the disease every hour of every day. During the month of November, organizations across Canada and from all countries are joining forces to raise awareness for this escalating worldwide epidemic. If you are insulin dependent, the Canadian Diabetes association is offering the Compassionate Use Program to assist Canadians people who are having difficulty affording their blood glucose monitoring supplies. Recognize volunteers who are leading the fight Congratulations to Marcia Foreman, a registered dietitian and certified diabetes educator who works in the Abbotsford Regional Hospital Diabetes Education Centre, and passionate volunteer for the Canadian Diabetes Association. Marcia received one of six Canadian Diabetes National Volunteer of the Year Awards at the National Diabetes Conference in Toronto on October 29 which recognizes individuals who have gone above and beyond in supporting the work of the Canadian Diabetes Association.
