On June 1, the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre opened it doors and welcomed its first patients. At the Breast Health Clinic, the first patient was examined and had a confirmed negative diagnosis that same day. The clinic aims to diagnosis women with a suspicion of breast cancer within 21 days from being referred, which is significantly less than the three months the typical diagnostic process can take. With the clinic’s multi-disciplinary, integrated approach, the tests required for a conclusive diagnosis (mammogram and/or ultrasound, physical exam, and tissue sample) can often be done in one visit, reducing the emotional stress on someone waiting for a diagnosis. Services available The Outpatient Centre is specifically designed for patients who don’t require an overnight stay or emergency care. Other programs and services include a variety of specialty clinics (e.g. diabetes, heart, lung, pain, seniors and neurology), urology services, maternity services, diagnostic services (e.g. ultrasound, x-ray, CT and MRI scans), day surgeries and surgical procedures, scopes and biopsies. How to access services Most patients are referred to the full range of scheduled outpatient services by family physicians, specialists or physicians and staff from Surrey Memorial Hospital. Please contact your family physician if you think you could benefit from a program or service offered here. The Lab and Medical Imaging on site will accept patients with requisitions for medical tests (blood work, x-ray, etc) Monday –Friday 7am to 8pm and Saturday, Sunday and holidays, 9am – 5pm. A BC Cancer Agency Screening Mammography Centre is on site as well. Learn more about the Pattison Outpatient Centre Visit the Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre section. | |
