How do I access assisted living?

| Contact | Access to subsidized assisted living units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the local Home Health office nearest you. | Building amenities | We serve two home-cooked meals a day (lunch and supper). Breakfast is available at a nominal cost. Snacks and beverages are served in “The Bistro” each morning and afternoon. Family and friends are welcome to join residents for meals. Tray service is available seven days a week at an additional cost (including breakfast) upon request. A private dining space is available upon request for large groups or special occasions. Sunday buffets are served every second week, including special occasions such as the Mother’s Day buffet. Special event catering is available upon request. On-site laundry services are available. Weekly housekeeping services are provided. |

| Type of accommodation | 40 publicly subsidized units. Each suite includes a kitchenette, three-piece ensuite bathroom, individual thermostats and wall-to-wall carpet and a refrigerator. Residents provide their own furnishings. |
| Cost | Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers: 1) monthly rental accommodation; 2) hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, flat laundry, etc.; 3) personal care; and 4) on-site emergency response system. Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate. Items not included as part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance. |

| Accessibility | Residents must be able to move around in their own apartment with or without the use of mobility aids. Electric wheelchairs designed for indoor use may be permitted with pre-approval of the Executive Director. Motorized scooter use is permitted on the grounds but not within the building. The hallways are wide enough for walkers and wheelchairs. |
| Pet policy | We have a resident cat. Cats are permitted, but we cannot accommodate dogs and other animals. |
| Smoking policy | There is no smoking within the complex. There is a smoking gazebo in the east garden. |
| Safety/security features | Residents receive an individual emergency pendant, monitored 24 hours daily. We also have 24-hour staffing and on-site maintenance. |
| Neighbourhood/community amenities | On-site resident and visitor parking is available. The TransLink bus stop is near the front entrance door. The building is five minutes away from Metrotown Shopping Centre, theatres and food court. We have an on-site hairdresser and barber. |
