How do I access assisted living?

Contact | Access to subsidized assisted living units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the local Home Health office nearest you. Please do not contact the Operator directly regarding subsidized units. For information on market units, please refer to the Seniors Housing Information Program (SHIP) directory. |
Building amenities | Meals include daily continental breakfast, lunch and dinner with two entrees. Mid-afternoon snacks are also available each day. Weekly light housekeeping and laundering of flat linen and towels are included |
Language, culture, religious affiliations | Community clergy conduct church services, bible studies. |
Type of accommodation | 45 publicly subsidized units. Each unit has a refrigerator, countertop stove and microwave. Residents provide their own furnishings. |
Cost | Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers: 1) monthly rental accommodation; 2) hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, flat laundry, etc.; 3) personal care; and 4) on-site emergency response system. Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate. Items not included as part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance. |
Special recreation opportunities | Our leisure services coordinator assists residents in organizing recreational and resident programs. |
Accessibility | Residents must be able to move around in their own apartment with or without the use of mobility aids. Electric wheelchairs designed for indoor use may be permitted with pre-approval of the Executive Director. There is a secure motorized scooter parking area with charging facilities. |
Pet policy | There are no restrictions on pets, but residents must be able to care for the animals independently. |
Smoking policy | There is no smoking in the building or in any of the suites. A designated outdoor smoking area is available. |
Safety/security features | All rooms have a call bell system. Personal pendants are available as necessary. The building is secured at 7 p.m. Entrance is by EnterPhone. |
Neighbourhood/community amenities | Cascade Manor is close to public transportation and all health care and community services, including medical services, churches, shopping, cultural and recreational activities. |
Residence-specific restrictions | Offers hospitality and personal assistance services to seniors and adults with disabilities. |
