How do I access assisted living?

Contact | Access to subsidized assisted living units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the local Home Health office nearest you. Please do not contact the Operator directly regarding subsidized units. For information on market units, please refer to the Seniors Housing Information Program (SHIP) directory. |
Building amenities | We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily in the elegant dining room; beverages and snacks are available throughout the day. Weekly housekeeping service and weekly flat linen laundry service are provided. |
Language, culture, religious affiliations | Community clergy offer a variety of denominational religious services are held at our facility each Sunday; clergy represent the United Church, Catholic Church, Christian Reformed Church, the Harrison Gospel Chapel and the Anglican Church. Hymn sing every Wednesday afternoon. Our staff members speak a variety of different languages including English, Dutch, Filipino, German, Spanish and Punjabi. |
Type of accommodation | 10 publicly subsidized units. Each unit contains a refrigerator and a microwave. Residents provide their own furnishings. |
Cost | Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers: 1) monthly rental accommodation; 2) hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, flat laundry, etc.; 3) personal care; and 4) on-site emergency response system. Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate. Items not included as part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance. |
Special recreation opportunities | A full calendar of social and recreational programs is available for residents. |
Accessibility | Residents must be able to move around in their own apartment with or without the use of mobility aids. Electric wheelchairs designed for indoor use may be permitted with pre-approval of the Executive Director. Motorized scooter parking is located in the basement and is accessible by the elevator. |
Pet policy | Small household pets are pre-approved on admission. Residents must provide care for their own pets. |
Smoking policy | There is no smoking inside the building; a designated smoking area is provided outside. |
Safety/security features | Each resident is provided a pendant which activates a handheld pager. There is also an intercom fall bell in each bathroom. There are sprinklers in every room and in common areas. There is an outside intercom and the main door is locked after 7 p.m. |
Neighbourhood/community amenities | Logan Manor is located in a residential neighbourhood. All churches, pharmacies, shopping, physicians, dentists, library, recreation centres and parks are within one kilometre. |
