Access to subsidized assisted living units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the local Home Health office nearest you. Please do not contact the Operator directly regarding subsidized units.

Building amenities

Lunch and dinner are provided daily. Snacks and refreshments are also offered daily in the bistro. Weekly suite cleaning and flat linen service are provided once weekly. Laundry rooms are situated on each floor.

Type of accommodation

40 publicly subsidized units.  Each unit has a refrigerator. Residents provide their own furnishings.

Cost

Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers: 1) monthly rental accommodation; 2) hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, flat laundry, etc.; 3) personal care; and 4) on-site emergency response system.

Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate.

Items not included as part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance.

Special recreation opportunities

A monthly calendar of events and activities; bus trips (both local and out of town) and Tai Chi.

Accessibility

Residents must be able to move around in their own apartment with or without the use of mobility aids.  Electric wheelchairs designed for indoor use may be permitted with pre-approval of the Executive Director. Outdoor scooters are not allowed inside the building except with special permission.

Pet policy

One small pet is allowed per suite. The pet must be free of disease and have current veterinary clearance. The resident must be able to care for the pet without staff assistance.

Smoking policy

There is no smoking in the building; covered outdoor areas are available.

Safety/security features

Each resident’s unit contains two pull stations and neck safety pendants are provided.  Front and underground parking doors are keypadded. Exterior doors are alarmed at all times.

Resident parking is available in a secured underground garage; visitor parking is available in front of the building.  Other amenities include a library, multi-purpose theatre room, bistro, bathing spa, Internet library, games room, beauty and barber salon, own mini-bus for outings.  Set beside The Waverly residential care facility.
