Langley Lodge is a six-storey residential care facility.

In addition to the main dining room, there are smaller more intimate dining rooms on second and third floors. The physiotherapy department is located on second floor and serves all residents in the building.

Owned and operated by the Langley Care Society.

How do I access residential care?

Access to subsidized residential care units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the Home Health office nearest you. Please do not contact the Operator directly regarding subsidized units.

Building amenities

Residents have access to our physiotherapist.  A family support group shares experience with families of new residents and provides support to interested families. The Residents’ Council meets regularly as does the Menu Committee giving residents a voice in directing their care services.Therapeutic recreation, dietary services.

Language, culture, religious affiliations

Ten community churches support our pastoral care program. Chaplain service is available to residents, families and visitors.

Accreditation status

YES: May 2009 to May 2012
Accreditation is an external peer review process to assess and improve the services health care organizations provide to their patients and clients, based on standards of excellence set by Accreditation Canada.

Philosophy of care

Our philosophy is advocacy, empowerment and respecting the resident’s autonomy, voice, self-determination and participation in decision-making.

Type of accommodation

Total beds: 139; 112 publicly subsidized residential care beds. 
Couples may be accommodated in some shared room.  Private washrooms with showers.

Basics Include bed, bedside table, dresser, chair, towels and linens

You may also bring a radio, TV, personal chair, pictures and plants; electrical equipment requires prior inspection and approval to ensure safety.

Items to bring include personal clothing and money for comforts.

Cost

Residents pay 80% of their after-tax income which covers the cost of food and accommodation.

Special recreation opportunities

Enriched recreational programs, such as music and horticultural therapy, are appreciated by everyone.  Walker’s club, daily exercise.  The Lodge's wheelchair accessible bus is used for recreational outings.

Wheelchair accessible; motorized scooter policy currently under review.

Pet policy

While we are not able to accommodate resident pets, there is an active pet visitation program and visitors may bring their pets into the building.

Smoking policy

The Lodge is a smoke-free facility.  A designated outdoor smoking area for residents only is located in the secure courtyard.

Safety/security features

The outdoor courtyard is secure, well-lit and have wide, level walkways. “Wandering” alert security system inside and outside the building; alarmed exit doors alert staff to wandering residents. Well lit staff and visitor parking area.

Neighbourhood/community amenities

The HandyDART bus service comes to the Lodge; public transportation is nearby.  Library, banking services, Douglas Park, Timms Community Centre and a shopping mall are nearby.

Facility-specific restrictions

Offers 24-hour nursing care and support to seniors and adults with complex care needs.

Any other amenities

Active volunteer program. Visiting dentist, foot care, hearing and optical services and an on-site hair salon are available to residents wishing to schedule these services. Guest suite for visitors.
