Residential Care and Assisted Living: Obtaining Supplies for H1N1 Flu Outbreak

Supplies available from Fraser Health include

  • N95 respirators (if required)
  • Disposable isolation gowns
  • Procedure masks with visors
  • Vinyl gloves (supplied for Assisted Living Facilities only)
  • Hand washing products (supplied for Assisted Living Facilities only)
Criteria for Distribution
  • An outbreak has been declared by the Medical Health Officer
  • Staff have received education about Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Staff understand appropriate donning and doffing of PPE techniques to ensure that PPE does not increase risk of infection.
  • For N95 respirator, resident is receiving AGMP (aerosol generating medical procedures) and has a positive laboratory test for Influenza A (H1N1) or there is a high suspicion of Influenza A. Staff have been fit tested for N95 respirators.

Process to obtain supplies from Fraser Health Shared Services Facility (SSF)

  • Complete request form and supplies list form ensuring correct address for delivery and on-site contact person.
  • Fax both forms to 604-455-1318.
  • Follow up fax with a telephone call to ensure that fax has been received. Telephone number is 604 455-1305 local 741415.
  • Staff is available at the SSF Sunday to Thursday 24 hours, Friday and Saturday 6 am to 6 pm.
  • Supplies will be sent by courier from the SSF to the facility.
