H1N1 Influenza Vaccine Program

  • Seasonal flu clinics will continue as scheduled until further notice:
    • Only seasonal vaccine will be offered at these clinics for individuals 65 years and older.
  • Beginning October 26th, H1N1 vaccine will be offered to physicians to immunize priority groups:
    • medically high risk individuals under 65 with chronic conditions, 
    • pregnant woman in 2nd half of pregnancy (adjuvanted vaccine).
  • Beginning the week of October 26th, Public health nurses will immunize:
    • Aboriginal communities and street entrenched/homeless individuals
  • Beginning October 26th, Workplace Health will immunize:
    • Health Care Workers who are under the age of 65, and suffer from chronic conditions or are pregnant in their second half of pregnancy.
  • Beginning the week of November 2nd the following risk groups will be added to the above: 
    • Children 6 months to less than 5 years of age.
    • Health-care workers and First Responders
    • Household contacts and care providers of infants less than 6 months of age and people who are immunocompromised.
  • Mid to late-November there will be provincial public notification regarding universal availability of H1N1 vaccine.

Information for Public Health Units

  • Seasonal influenza vaccine clinics will be offered for seniors over 65 years of age, as scheduled until further notice.  These clinics will not offer H1N1 vaccine.
  • H1N1 vaccine will be offered to high priority risk groups for the 1st half of November.
  • Public clinic schedules will be posted on the Fraser Health website and on Health Unit phone lines as information becomes available.
