Eligibility for the publicly subsidized Assisted Living units is based on your personal care needs. Funding cannot be transferred or used elsewhere.

Am I eligible?

You may be eligible for assisted living services if you:

  • Are 19 years of age or over. Generally speaking, assisted living communities are for seniors and people with disabilities. Some Fraser Health assisted living residences are designed for younger, physically disabled individuals.
  • Are currently a Home Health client but are finding these services are no longer meeting your care needs.
  • Are at risk in your current home living situation.
  • Are still able to communicate and be understood by others.
  • Are able to make your own decisions.
  • Behave in ways that do not put the safety of others at risk.
  • Are able to take direction from others in an emergency.
  • Are able to use an emergency response system.

Are couples eligible?

If couples wish to move into an assisted living residence, only one member needs to meet the eligibility requirements for both to move in together.
Who's not eligible?

Assisted living services are not an option for those who:

  • Can't make their own decisions about day-to-day activities (unless they are living with a spouse who can make decisions on their behalf)
  • Have care needs exceeding what can be provided in an assisted living residence
