Contact | Access to subsidized assisted living units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the local Home Health office nearest you. Please do not contact the Operator directly regarding subsidized units. For information on market units, please refer to the Seniors Housing Information Program (SHIP) directory. |
Building amenities | Amenities include a spacious dining room; two meals are provided daily (lunch and dinner) and are served “family style”. A comfortable lounge is available for continental breakfast, coffee, tea and socializing. Weekly light housekeeping and flat linen service are available and included. Personal laundry service is available on a cost per load basis. |
Language, culture, religious affiliations | Monthly religious services by Bethesda Ministry. |
Type of accommodation | 40 publicly subsidized units. Each suite includes an apartment size refrigerator and stove. Residents provide their own furnishings. |
Cost | Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers: 1) monthly rental accommodation; 2) hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, flat laundry, etc.; 3) personal care; and 4) on-site emergency response system. Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate. Items not included as part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance. |
Special recreation opportunities | There is a full calendar of in-house events including music therapy, wellness clinics, community outreach, intergenerational events and personal choice plans (reviewed monthly). |
Accessibility | Residents must be able to move around in their own apartment with or without the use of mobility aids. Electric wheelchairs designed for indoor use may be permitted with pre-approval of the Executive Director. Motorized scooters are permitted; however there is no storage area. |
Pet policy | We cannot accommodate pets. |
Smoking policy | There is no smoking inside the building; designated outdoor areas are available. |
Safety/security features | There is a Medi-Alert system and 24-hour nurse and care staff available. A security control panel and intercom system is available. Daily security rounds and staff is available 24-hours daily. There are also locks on patio doors and windows; the building is locked after 9:30 p.m. |
Neighbourhood/community amenities | Public transit is available directly outside Dania Manor and the residence is close to shopping, recreation and parks. A fire hall, hospital and ambulance service are nearby. |
