Does Home Health provide housekeeping and meal preparation?
Answer
Home Health does not provide housekeeping or meal preparation; however, Home Health staff can assist you in locating these types of services in your community.
Will you send a nurse to my home?
Answer
Although most nursing care is provided in a clinic setting it is possible to have a nurse visit you in your home.  A nurse will review your care needs and determine the best setting for treatment.  For more information, visit our Home Care Nursing page.
How can I get my loved one into a residential care facility or assisted living residence?
Answer
Your loved one will need to be assessed to determine their care needs. Our goal is to support people in the community or in their own homes for as long as possible. An individual will only go on a list for residential care or assisted living when their care needs can no longer be safely managed at home. At that time, staff will assist you in locating the best setting  to meet the care needs of your loved one.
How much does it cost for services?
Answer
Professional services such as nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, social work, pharmacy and dietitian services are provided at no cost, however, clients may be expected to pay for supplies and equipment associated with their care.

Home Support Services are provided to clients requiring assistance with personal care or managing their medical condition   In some cases assistance is provided to allow a period of respite in the home for family caregivers.

To access these services all clients must agree to a financial assessment to determine daily rates  which may apply.  Rates are dependent on the household after tax income; many clients are eligible for home support services at no charge.

For more information, see our Costs for Home Health Services page.
Can I get a physiotherapist or occupational therapist in my home to help with walking and home safety?
Answer
A nurse, physiotherapist or occupational therapist will review your care needs and determine if your home is the best setting for therapy.  A physiotherapist or occupational therapist can help you to improve your physical abilities and ensure your home is accessible and safe.
