Lifeline

Help at the push of a button

Bookmark and Share

Lifeline monitoring assists individuals to maintain independence and remain safe in their own homes.

Lifeline is a personal emergency response service designed to assist you 24 hours a day, seven days a week. It provides you and your loved ones with the comfort and reassurance that help is only a push of a button away.

There is a charge for activation and monthly monitoring.

Lifeline can help you if...

  • you are home alone on a frequent basis
  • you are at risk for falls
  • you use adaptive devices to assist you with walking
  • you are managing a medical condition
  • you would feel more comfortable knowing help was always available

Subscription information

To subscribe to Lifeline it is recommended that you provide the names of people willing to serve as responders. Responders can be friends, neighbours or family members within ten minutes of your home, and must be people you trust with a key to your home. Should the need arise these responders will be contacted.

You need to be prepared to provide basic medical information such as your medical condition, medications, allergies and the name of your family physician. In order for the equipment to work, you must have a regular telephone jack with close access to an electrical outlet.

Auto alert

Take comfort in knowing your button will call for help, even if you can't.  The AutoAlert button detects a fall even if you are unable to push the button; it will automatically send a help call to the response centre within one minute.

The button is designed to detect the difference between real falls and the action of bending over to pick up an item on the floor.  Even if the button is held in your hand and dropped to the floor, it will not send a signal because the button ‘knows’ this is not how people fall.
