Pest Management

Get control of common household pests

Environmental Health Officers can provide assistance and information in the identification and control of common household pests, such as insects and rodents.

The only Health Protection office that offers direct pest control services is in Burnaby, where a rat baiting program on private occupied lands is administered.

If you have any question regarding pest infestation, please contact your local Environmental Health Officer.

Bedbugs

Although there is no evidence that bedbugs spread disease to people, they can be a considerable nuisance and there is the possibility of secondary infection if bites are scratched. In addition, bed bug infestations can cause some people anxiety, stress, and insomnia.

Getting advice from a licensed pest control operator is your best option when dealing with an infestation in your home. Landlords cannot legally apply pesticides themselves in their rental suites; they must hire a licensed pest control operator.
