Immunization is a safe and effective way to protect yourself from certain illnesses. Vaccines for the flu and pneumonia are provided free to all seniors in BC and begin to be available in October or early November. Protecting yourself from the flu and pneumonia is important and could potentially be life-saving. The influenza virus, which causes the flu, is responsible for thousands of deaths each year, and people who are elderly or weak are particularly susceptible to serious forms of the flu.
