The Public Health Hearing (Audiology) Program provides hearing evaluations and hearing aid services for children birth to 19 years of age.  The program also supports newborn and early childhood screening programs aimed at early identification, treatment, education, and support in the event of hearing loss.

Hearing assessmentsThe Audiology Program provides diagnostic hearing evaluations for children of all ages. Referrals can be made by health and educational professionals and by parents.

Listening Devices for School (FM Equipment)
An FM System is a piece of equipment that can be used with hearing aids to provide a better listening environment in the classroom. The Sensory Institute provides FM equipment to all children with hearing aids attending school. The equipment is fit, dispensed, and maintained by the Public Health Audiology staff in conjunction with the Sensory Institute and the school district hearing teachers.

Kindergarten Screening ProgramKindergarten children attending public and private schools receive a hearing screening by public health.  Any child who requires further testing is referred to the Audiology Program for a complete hearing evaluation.
