What is Sexual Assault

How you may feel
Sexual assault is a difficult experience. You may be in a state of shock and find it hard to believe this has really happened to you. You are probably feeling scared, angry, confused, powerless, or possibly ashamed, depressed, blaming yourself, and sensing a loss of control.

We will try to make you feel as comfortable and as safe possible.

What do you do if you have been sexually assaulted?
If you wish to seek medical help, you may report to the Emergency department either at Surrey Memorial Hospital or MSA General Hospital.  The triage nurse will page the Forensic Nurse Examiner on call, who will come to the hospital to talk and if you wish examine you for injuries.

If you have been sexually assaulted, seek help - it's a click away. Do not drink, eat, or shower prior to seeing a nurse examiner. This will aid the nurse examiner with the collection of evidence.
