Contact | Access to subsidized assisted living units is through a Home Health assessment. For more information on subsidized units, contact the local Home Health office nearest you. Please do not contact the Operator directly regarding subsidized units. For information on market units, please refer to the Seniors Housing Information Program (SHIP) directory. |
Building amenities | We serve lunch and dinner daily, as well as a tea and coffee time every afternoon. Light housekeeping services are provided once a week; the bed is changed and sheets and towels are washed once per week. |
Language, culture, religious affiliations | We offer church services from community Protestant denominations. |
Type of accommodation | 68 publicly subsidized units. Larger units are available for couples. Each unit has a refrigerator and stove, and step-in shower with bench. Residents provide their own furnishings. |
Cost | Residents pay 70% of their after-tax income which covers: 1) monthly rental accommodation; 2) hospitality services: two meals and two snacks daily, weekly housekeeping, flat laundry, etc.; 3) personal care; and 4) on-site emergency response system. Residents on income assistance pay a flat rate. Items not included as part of the monthly fee include: telephone, cable, hydro, personal laundry, household and toiletry supplies, medications, personal care products and insurance. |
Special recreation opportunities | Social and recreational activities are in the assisted living building. Residents have free membership to the KinVillage community centre adjoined to the building. |
Accessibility | Residents must be able to move around in their own apartment with or without the use of mobility aids. Electric wheelchairs designed for indoor use may be permitted with pre-approval of the Executive Director. Indoor scooter parking is available. Scooters are not allowed in the hallways, common areas or in the suites. |
Pet policy | No pets are allowed to live in the building; however, friends and family are encouraged to bring visiting pets visits anytime. |
Smoking policy | There is no smoking inside the building; a designated smoking area is available outside. |
Safety/security features | A 24-hour emergency response system, including wall-mounted intercom, in each unit; residents are provided with a wearable pendant. There is 24-hour staff and on-call night security. |
Neighbourhood/community amenities | KinVillage Assisted Living is within walking distance to Winskill Park, shops, banks and a medical building. The residence is connected to the adjoining KinVillage community centre which offers seniors’ recreation and activity programming. |
Residence-specific restrictions | Offers hospitality and personal assistance services to seniors and adults with disabilities. |
Any other amenities | Free parking for residents and visitors. Amenities also include a library, meeting room and hair salon. |
