Volunteer opportunities - Delta Hospital

We are pleased to let you know we are now accepting applications to volunteer at Delta Hospital. As a Volunteer Resource team, we strive to develop and maintain opportunities that serve and support our patients, families, visitors and staff while offering a meaningful volunteer experience.

We celebrate diversity and inclusiveness, and currently welcome people aged 18 years and older to apply.

Health care volunteer program areas:

• Acute care hospital program activities.
• Long-term care residential program activities.

Volunteers must meet the following requirements to be a successful candidate:

• 18 years or older – applicants must be available to volunteer during regular business hours Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Teen volunteer opportunities are posted periodically based on patient/resident needs.
• Proficient in English.
• Exhibits effective communication skills.
• Able to commit to volunteering one-time-per-week for a few hours at a consistent day and time for a minimum of six months. A consistent weekly commitment is a primary indicator of a successful volunteer placement.
• Ability to meaningfully engage with our staff, patients and residents.
• We are looking for volunteer candidates that live within reasonable proximity to Delta Hospital.

1. Application: Complete the application form using the link provided below. If you are contacted to interview for available volunteer positions, and are offered a volunteer role, you will then proceed with the following onboarding processes:
2. Screening: Criminal record check with the BC Ministry of Justice, an interview and two reference checks.
3. Orientation: Complete an online orientation session for volunteers and attend a hospital orientation session.
4. Placement: Training and placement will follow the orientation.
